PDS CARES 30 Years, 30 Gifts program has selected the Ovarian Cancer Research Fund (OCRF) as our week 20 donation recipient. This organization was brought to our attention by PDS employee, Dean Schuler.
Dean shared some comments with us about OCRF and why it means so much to him. “They award grants to researchers working to better understand, identify, treat and cure ovarian cancer. They are the oldest and largest US based charity to specifically fund ovarian cancer research. I recommend them because my mother passed away from Ovarian Cancer at age 55, when she was otherwise very healthy. It was not detected until it had spread to stage 4 level. My hope is that through research, someday there will be a way to detect it sooner and perhaps even develop a cure so that other individuals and families don’t have to go through what my mother did.”
PDS CARES put some thought into Dean’s nomination and why it might be important to consider making a donation to this cause. We realized that not only does PDS Planning, Inc. have many female clients, the President of PDS Planning is a female, in a largely male-dominated industry. PDS CARES feels that this is one small way to honor Dean’s mother, our female clients and our female employees. So, its hat’s off to the ladies this week!
