2020 Tax Filing Deadline Extended
In case you have been hearing mixed information related to the upcoming IRS tax deadline, we would like to provide clarity on the subject with information directly from the IRS.
- The deadline to make a 2020 tax year contribution to a Traditional IRA or Roth IRA has been extended to Monday, May 17, 2021.
- The deadline to file your taxes has also been extended to May, 17, 2021.
It is important to note, if you are planning on filing an extension (to move your filing deadline to October 15th), you will need to fill out Form 4868. If you do choose to file an extension, the extension only applies to the filing of your tax paperwork. This will not affect the 2020 IRA contribution deadline, as this will remain May 17, 2021.
