Proud recipients of back-to-school backpacks from NSI
PDS has been a corporate supporter of NSI for several years. Neighborhood Services is one of the area’s oldest food pantries, founded in 1965 by churches in the Ohio State University area who became aware of the growing needs of nearby neighbors. It has become one of the largest pantries and material-assistance programs in Columbus. In addition to its choice food pantry, NSI offers a children’s and adult’s clothing room, holiday food boxes, summer youth day camp programs, back-to-school supplies and clothing, and its Project Kringle, a toy program at Christmas. NSI is an official Benefit Bank Site, providing assistance with obtaining government resources such as food stamps, medical benefits, and cash assistance. In 2014, every $1 contributed to NSI was turned into $8.87 of food for neighbors in its immediate and neighboring zip code areas.
PDS’ Bob Cochran has been a long-time supporter of NSI. He has served on its board of directors since 2009 and will complete his second year as board president in December, 2014.
