Get to know the Financial Planning Team of Laurie Licata, CFP® (Wealth Planner), Alyssa Troyer (Paraplanner), and Rita Itsell (Senior Financial Advisor). As they like to say, “Teamwork makes the dream work.”

Why do you enjoy working for PDS Planning?

Laurie – We work together as a team with the common goal of providing our clients with the best possible service. We also manage to have fun in the process. I’m a firm believer that finance doesn’t have to be stuffy and boring. I enjoy talking with our clients and learning more about them, their goals, and their families.

Alyssa – I’m very lucky to have coworkers I truly enjoy working with. It is a combination of the great people I get to work with daily and the wonderful clients we work with that keep me enjoying my job!

Rita – The best part about working with PDS is first our people – smart, talented, approachable, and fun-loving. Second, working with wonderful clients who have the confidence and trust in us to help meet their financial goals.

What is the most challenging part of your work? What do you personally enjoy about your work?

Laurie – Challenge? I love a challenge. That’s what keeps this job interesting. I personally enjoy seeing our clients feel relaxed and comfortable with their finances. Our goal is to make their finances feel less complicated.

Alyssa – Currently the most challenging part of my job is getting ready to be out on maternity leave! However, this makes me all the more grateful to be working on a team with Rita and Laurie. I know they will be able to keep things on track while I’m out. They are a wonderful support system for me (both in and out of the office!). Personally, the best part of our work is seeing the impact we make for our clients when we are able to help them with any aspect of their financial plan.

Rita – The most challenging part of my work is having the time to fully engage in the aspects of each task needed to create a positive experience for both our staff and clients. I enjoy utilizing my expertise and knowledge to help create and offer resolutions to our clients and staff.

How would you describe your team’s way of working?

Laurie – Alyssa, Rita, and I have been a team for some years now. We work so well together because we are so similar in our work ethic. We have a saying….” teamwork makes the dream work.”

Alyssa – We have the benefit that we’ve been working together for many years now, and we have a great rhythm. We OFTEN finish each other’s sentences… and finish them correctly! We help each other out to accomplish tasks as efficiently as we can get to them. We’ve been known to say: teamwork makes the dream work!

Rita – We are incredibly collaborative. Not one of us is so fixed in our position not to want to take on a task of the other, especially in a time of need. We are strong communicators, sometimes too much, who often can read each other’s minds. We look out for each other and are willing to jump in no matter what to maintain efficiencies in our client communication and service.

“Teamwork makes the dream work” – Alyssa Anderson quote.

How do you approach new ideas within your team?

Laurie – We talk it out. We share our thoughts and decide on a team approach so that we all do things the same way to keep consistency.

Alyssa – It helps to approach new ideas within our team because I can count on Laurie and Rita to look at something with a view I may not have initially thought of. It often takes discussion, but we come out with a strong plan of action when we put our heads together.

Rita – Our team is very outspoken in a good way, willing to share and pivot when the flow is not working. The team is comfortable speaking up, listening, and establishing the next move to keep us on track. No feelings are ever hurt in our relations – it is for the better.

What does your team value in a colleague?

Laurie – Timeliness, accuracy, consistency, and honesty.

Alyssa – Efficiency, accuracy, accountability – and can’t forget the desire to smile and laugh!

Rita – We value the outspokenness in each other to share concerns or praise. With that said, the value is across the board all around having team players in every aspect of our relationship as coworkers and friends. You don’t win the game solo.
