Pelotonia, Noah Studenmund – Why He Rides
Inspired by his brother’s battle with non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma, PDS Planning Client Relationship Manager, Noah Studenmund has committed to ride and raise funds for cancer research as part of this year’s Pelotonia.
Noah joins the Wrendale Riders team, made up mostly of his cousins, the name of which pays homage to his family’s connection to Wren, Ohio, and a family farm there named Wrendale Farms. On Saturday, August 6, 2022, Noah and his brother Matt – who is in remission – will ride 57 miles, along with 11 other family members that include his sister, Rachel, and his cousin Keith, who will be riding in his 12th Pelotonia.
Noah and Matt, while both students at The Ohio State University, were actively involved in Buckeye-Thon, which raises funds for pediatric cancer research. But when Matt was diagnosed with non-Hodgkins Lymphoma during his senior year of college, it felt right to both of them to put their time and energy into joining their family members riding in Pelotonia. With their commitment, each team member is raising at least $1,500 that will benefit The James Cancer Treatment and Research Center.
Our clients at PDS Planning know Noah Studenmund through his work “managing client information, scheduling, trading and moving money, and doing anything our clients need help with daily.” But it is really the relationships within PDS and with our clients that are most important to Noah.
When asked about his favorite aspect of working for PDS, however, he quickly noted, “The community feeling is the biggest thing for me – we know what is going on in each other’s lives outside of just a work relationship.” This extends to clients, as well. “[A]nyone could walk in the door and we will know who it is and what is going on in their life.”
It’s not a surprise that Noah was drawn to Pelotonia, a community determined to see an end to cancer – one that is very close to his heart as a result of his brother’s own battle. He is excited to be with his family and the Wrendale Riders, a “small yet mighty peloton” inspired to participate in Pelotonia to celebrate the lives and memories of so many touched by cancer.
The entire PDS Planning team supports Noah and the Wrendale Riders in their commitment to this important cause through the PDS Cares program. Founded in 2015, PDS Cares is a charitable fund with the Columbus Foundation used to match employees’ charitable gifts by providing each team member with a pool of money with which to make discretionary gifts, as well as allow us to make company-identified gifts to the community. Through December 2021, the company had pledged over $116,000 of contributions while giving more than $60,000 to 100+ local charities.
We hope you will consider supporting Noah and his team, or anyone else you may know participating in Pelotonia this year as they ride with “One Goal,” and we know we will be cheering them the whole way.
